I need to go watch The Mentalist on Netflix soon. So let me get straight to the point with this post!
A couple of months ago, Helene Palmer messaged me on Facebook about a PLR launch she was going to do…

She had chosen a “caregiver side hustle” topic.
As you can see from the image above, I had my misgivings about it.. The niche was very narrow and my Indian Spidey sense was tingling.
But Helene said she’d done the research and the stats showed it was viable.
On the second day of her launch, she messaged me again…

No sales. So I emailed my list… aaaand… still no sales. So much for being His Excellency Arun.
I’ll post a few more screenshots of our conversation so you can catch up…

So here’s where we are…
I knew this launch was going to flop. Maybe I’m a mentalist too.
No matter how good the content, copy, or sales page is, if a topic has no demand, it’ll be excruciatingly difficult to sell the PLR.
So there was no point in rewriting the sales copy and trying to beat a dead horse … which was still more alive than Helene’s launch.

Your takeaway: Just because Google Trends displays stats showing people are interested in the topic, that does NOT mean it will automatically sell well as PLR content.
Always remember that when selling PLR, you’re selling to marketers. NOT end-consumers of that content. NOT caregivers.
Someone caring for a geriatric person will be searching for advice to guide them. They won’t necessarily be looking for PLR content they can post on a caregiver blog.
These are the numbers you’re seeing on Google Trends and in keyword searches. The numbers don’t paint the full picture.
When deciding on a PLR topic, always ask yourself, “How will my PLR content be monetized?”
If you can’t figure it out, find another topic.
Back to my story…
By now, Helene was starting to worry because with no sales coming in, all that effort would have gone to waste.
So she decided to launch her OTO. Since no one had bought the front-end, they never saw the OTO in her funnel.
She could do that. It’s fine… BUT… it also meant the original front-end product would probably never see the light of day again. Very sad.
My opinion: NEVER give up on your products this fast.
I had other plans for her languishing content, which was already halfway into the marketing morgue…

I gave Helene a brand new topic to cover… and gave her the titles too.

There’s a reason I did this.
With a new front-end product, they’d not only get a chance to see her OTO…
But most importantly…
With a new front-end product, we could move the old front-end (which got no sales) to an OTO 2 in the funnel.
A last ditch attempt to squeeze a few sales. Because zero is such a lonely number.

Generally, people will be in a buying mood after getting the first one or two products.
So maybe they’d be more likely to get OTO 2… and might even have an idea of how they could use the caregiver content. Anything is possible.
Back to the conversation…
Helene came back to me with some sales copy she had generated with AI or something.
I told her to go ahead and build the sales page with her copy.

Once she came back to me with her page, I got the login details to her site and built a brand new page for her.
Why? – Because I’m cool that way.
But more importantly, I wanted this damn front-end to sell.
And this was the page I built. (The product cover was designed by Helene’s partner, John. I’m not that artsy.)

Here’s what happened…
Her new front-end did 73 sales.

Her OTO 1 (which was the same OTO from the previous failed launch) did 18 sales.

And her OTO 2 (which was her front-end product in the failed launch) did 8 sales.

So the product that originally made 0 sales went on to make 8 sales and bring in $120.
Now, this is nothing to write home about… but it’s still $120.
After all, she did spend time working on it. So let’s get some payoff for all that effort.
If Helene does future launches in the seniors niche and keeps adding the caregiver bundle as an OTO, she’ll definitely get more sales.
Once again…
NEVER give up on a product just because it flopped the first time.. Approach it from a few other angles first.
Losers can become winners. Just like I was a loser when I met my girlfriend 17 years ago…
But she still married me 10 years later, and now, I’m a winner! 💪💪💪

Haters will say this image is AI…
Pfft! I know you endured this post all the way just to feast your eyes on this pic.
You’re welcome.
