ChatGPT for Creatives: How to Turn Prompts into Cartoon Magic

This post is not about marketing. It’s about using ChatGPT to do some fun image creation stuff.

But once you grasp the fundamentals below, you’ll be able to adapt them to your marketing too.

A couple of days ago, I created an action figure of myself (below). Don’t ask why it looks creepy. Probably because I look creepy.

If you want to create a similar action figure, use the prompt below in ChatGPT and attach a photo of yourself.

Create a highly detailed action figure package of [Full Name], labeled as a [Job Title or Role]. The packaging should look like a plastic blister box for collectible figures.

The figure is:

  • Wearing [Clothing Style] (e.g., hoodie, jeans, sneakers)
  • Standing and smiling in a relaxed, casual pose

Include 5 accessories related to their work/lifestyle:

  • [First Accessory] (e.g. laptop with logo)
  • [Second Accessory] (e.g. mug)
  • [Third Accessory] (e.g. colorful mechanical keyboard)
  • [Fourth Accessory] (e.g. book)
  • [Fifth Accessory] (e.g. glasses)

Text on the package:

  • Name at the top in bold: [Full Name]
  • Subtitle: – [Job Title or Role]

Cover Art Style Prompt:

E.g. Design the action figure packaging in a bold, fiery theme with a strong presence. Use a bright red-orange background with flame graphics rising from the bottom.

Creating Cartoons, Dioramas… and Any Other Image You Want!

ChatGPT’s image creation abilities are endless. From cartoons to muppets to Lego images and so on.

I can’t possibly cover all of it… and I still need to watch 2 episodes of Daredevil. I don’t have time for this BS.

So, I’m going to quickly show you how you can model most images you want easily.

The other day, I saw one of my Facebook friends, Huw Hughes, post a pic of himself and his daughter.

So I took that pic and turned it into a Pixar-styled image in ChatGPT…

Now, sometimes ChatGPT will kick up a fuss and say that the request goes against its policies or whatever.

Yawn! I hate being told what can and cannot be done. There’s a workaround to this.

Find a sample image and ask ChatGPT to model your image after it… without mentioning ‘Pixar’ or trademarked names.

Let Me Show You What I Mean…

Huw (mentioned above) was so pleased with the Pixar pic that he gave me another photo (of his wife and him) and asked me to do the same Pixar-style makeover for it

So I turned them both into muppets.

Just because I’m that kind of guy. And here’s how I did it…

First, I downloaded an image of muppets from Google Images.

Next, I attached the image to ChatGPT and used this prompt: “Study the style and details of this image. Say ok when you’re done.”

After ChatGPT’s response, I attached Huw’s photo in ChatGPT and used this prompt: “Make this photo of me and my wife look like it’s in the same style as the photo I shared earlier. Match the textures, colors, and character design style.”

And this is what ChatGPT generated… and I sent it to Huw in the Facebook chat…

Now that you know how this is done, you can replicate any image or style you like. Doesn’t matter if it’s a cartoon or action figure.

Just send the image to ChatGPT and ask it to model it.

If you’re wondering where to attach your images, just click on the + and attach it. (See image below)

Since we’re already here, let me ask ChatGPT to turn my wife’s photo into a Simpson’s styled cartoon…

Now why the hell is she so fair?

Let me fix that…

That’s more like it.

Remember: You can always tell ChatGPT to make changes to the image until you get what you want.

Getting Chatty To Write the Prompts

Sometimes, you may see an AI image you like on social media… and you have no idea what prompt was used to create it.

Well, don’t waste your mental energy trying to figure it out. Just get ChatGPT to do the work.

Download the image you like, attach it in ChatGPT and use this prompt: “Can you look at this image and write a detailed AI art prompt (with fill-in-the-blanks for me to add my details) that could recreate something similar? Include style, lighting, composition, and key visual elements.”

That’s it.

Maybe it’s best I demonstrate it to you… ok…

Today, I saw a post on Facebook by this guy…

Now, I’ll admit I don’t have a clue what prompt he used to generate that image.

Hell! Being the manly man I am, I don’t even know what that style of image is called. But that’s fine.

I’ll attach the image in ChatGPT and unleash the prompt…

Excellent.

Now I have a starting point for the prompt and can edit it to get what I want.

I’ll attach my photo… use my edited prompt… and… Boom! 💥

A diorama of my creepy ass self. So much winning.

That pretty much sums it up.

Now you know how to create any image you want… and how to reverse engineer a prompt to help you get there.

Easy peasy. You’re welcome!

P.S. One last thing… you see the featured image right at the top of this blog post? – Well, that was created with ChatGPT too.
